With three races to go, a long season is slowly coming to end. During qualification Michael nailed a nice lap, which was good enough for P10 on the grid. Passing at Suzuka, especially in the MP4-30, is quite difficult. Therefore Michael was in a strong position to score another top ten result.
In the opening lap Michael dropped down two spots. Quite early in the 1st stint, there was a huge pile up of cars behind the Radicals driver Mogar Filho, who was struggling with the balance of his car. Therefore Michael decided to pit a little earlier than planned to try an undercut. After his pit stop, he was able to pull out a few quick laps and passed Mogar Filho. After several laps behind Oomishima, Michael had similar problems with the balance of his car just like Filho. Due to that he was not able to defend his spot against Colak in the final laps of the race. At the end, he finished Suzuka in P12.
With two races to go in the 2016 iWCGPS, Michael is 12th in the overall standings.
